Collection: salt fired stoneware

Salt firing kiln ware . The introduction of salt in the firebox at 2300 degrees vaporizes in the attmosphire of the kiln. creating glass on the stoneware surface.

Sodium attaches to the silica of the claybody to form a glaze . This glaze is attached through the firing attmosphire when salt is added, bonded to,not sitting on top of the clay body which makes it very strong and gives the pottery a very distinct look.
